The Mercado Publico de Tarifa is the local market. It’s worth a visit, lovely and has fresh fish too. 

Beaches

Good beaches there are many. We can recommend some:

  • City beach next to the Isla de Tarifa, with Waikiki and other beachside bars
  • Los Lances, ca. 3 km away
  • Valdevaqueros, ca. 10 km away. For kitesurfing & windsurfing.
    • Valdevaqueros can be quite full in summer months, especially in the weekends, so we recommend to go early, by 10:00 to get a parking place.
  • Punta paloma
  • Bolonia

Places to see

Worth seeing are, amongst others:

  • Mirador at Aire del Cabrito, offers a great view of the strait 

Attractive cities / towns in the area:

  • Gibraltar
  • Vejer de la Frontera
  • Castellar de la Frontera, with its fortress-town and music bars

Activities

Good activities are:

  • Horseback riding, near Valdevaqueros
  • Climbing

Kitesurfing, windsurfing and wingfoil are the main water sports in Tarifa. 

Wave surfing is better on the Atlantic coast, where the waves are generally higher
